Bruce Willis: ‘I’m scared of technology’

Bruce Willis has revealed that he is scared of modern forms of communication.

The Die Hard star, whose ex-wife Demi Moore regularly updates her Twitter page, said that people are too reliant on technology such as social networking websites.

Willis told TrailerSeite.de: “What really disturbs me is the danger that lies in the fact that people want to communicate information quicker and quicker. I am not a big fan of social networks in electronic form. If the electricity dies, we would have to go home right now.”

Talking about the death of Michael Jackson last year, he said: “The whole world knew in four seconds or at least a short time. 10, 20 years ago that would have been utopic. Information gets more compact and quicker.”  [Source]

‘Red’ Begins Shooting In Toronto

In keeping with its October 22 release date, the cinematic adaptation of Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer’s spy-thriller graphic novel “Red” seems to be rolling right along.

According to a production release from Summit Entertainment, principal photography is currently underway in Toronto, with director of photography Florian Boneventura at the helm.

It’s too early to say when stars Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman and the recently-cast John Malkovich trek up to Toronto to begin filming, but now that the Robert Schwentke directed project is underway, fans are probably already wondering if they’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the movie at this summer’s Comic-Con International.

The story, which follows a retired black-ops agent forced to assemble a team of former allies to counter attempts on his life by a hi-tech assassin, has been characterized by Schwentke as a funny take on the more serious source material. Other changes will include an increased number of characters and additional story content given the comics’ relatively tight cast and concise tale compared to a full-length motion picture.  Read the rest of this entry »

John Malkovich heads to “Red” with Bruce Willis

John Malkovich has signed to star opposite Bruce Willis in “Red,” an all-star adaptation of the comic-book miniseries.

Malkovich is stepping in for John C. Reilly, who exited the project in late December.

Willis plays a retired black-ops agent who must contend with younger, more high-tech assassins who show up to kill him.

Malkovich will be able to exercise his comic sensibilities by playing a retired CIA agent, a contemporary of Willis’, who is erratic and paranoid that everyone is out to kill him and joins Willis in his quest to find out who wants them dead.

Malkovich joins a cast that includes Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker, Julian McMahon, Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine and Brian Cox.

Principal photography begins this week in Toronto. Robert Schwenke is directing the Summit Entertainment project.

Malkovich next appears onscreen in Disney’s “Secretariat.”  [Source]
