The future is here, and it looks like Bruce Willis in a bad wig. You might have missed Surrogates when it opened this past September, since its opening weekend only pulled in $15M or so — I guess the combination of Bruce Willis + action doesn’t carry the weight it once did. Quite frankly, you didn’t miss that much. While the script flirts with plenty of promising ideas, they’re largely ignored in favor of standard action clichés and Willis glowering a lot. Still, there’s a bit of fun to be had, and if you’d like to watch Bruce Willis save us all from gorgeous, dead-eyed robots, Surrogates hits Blu-ray and DVD January 26th.

Willis stars as FBI agent Tom Greer, policing a near future where nearly everyone lives their life by proxy through idealized robot avatars. You can do anything you want without fear of injury, be anyone or anything you like, but not everyone is crazy about this brave new world. After the destruction of two avatars kills their human operators as well, Greer stumbles upon a conspiracy that threatens the whole world. To make matters worse, Greer’s own avatar is soon destroyed, leaving him overwhelmed at having to deal with the world first-hand for the first time in years.   Read the rest of this entry »

“Surrogates” will be available on DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def in January.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment announced it will release the Bruce Willis action movie on January 26. The movie, referred to by Collider.com critic Matt Goldberg as “high-octane action,” will come complete with a variety of special features for an enhanced viewing experience.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele, the movie is set in a futuristic society where robot bodies outnumber those of actual humans. The robots, surrogates, are made in the likeness of people who control them from their home. Without any risk of danger, the surrogates allow users to experience an exciting life without any kind of repercussions. Among the users is FBI agent Tom Greer (Willis), who is called upon to solve a mystery involving the surrogates, which are beginning to malfunction, killing their users. And when he can no longer use his own surrogate, Greer has to rely on his own senses and strengths to follow through in the investigation. Read the rest of this entry »

Even though many man in Hollywood go under the knife to retain their action star looks, Bruce Willis plans to Die Hard before he has plastic surgery.

In a recent interview, the newly married 54 year old said that he doesn’t pay much attention to how he looks or how he’s going to stay good looking.

Bruce reportedly says, “Cosmetic stuff, I am not a fan of it and I know a lot of people are. It’s a big business and anytime you can make a lot of money off something it is going to stick around. I don’t plan on cutting myself up, you would be surprised there are a lot of male actors that think about it just as much as women do. I don’t think about it very often I don’t really care.”
